Physician - Chief Medical Officer

The incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Anderson CBOC and directly supervises the Primary Care provider staff; Must possess a broad spectrum of clinical and administrative knowledge which provides the ability to manage a large Primary Care program, specifically with regard to Veteran and staff customer satisfaction, quality of services provided, and efficiency of service delivery; Coordination of the clinical care of all patients within the clinic, while working in collaboration with Primary Care, Women's Health, ER/Urgent Care and Surgical and Medical Sub-Specialty Services; Facilitation of communication among patients and their families along with the VA and outside primary care physicians, hospitalists, and subspecialists; Promotes VHA, Medical Center and CBOC programs and services in the local area through community involvement; Responsible for oversight and coordination of process improvement initiatives, assuring teamwork and addressing customer service and service recovery issues in the clinic; Providing patient care in accordance with professional standards, core values and commitment to excellent service. The incumbent will be committed to supporting Patient Centered Care, to include the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model and provide direction and leadership for PACT to ensure that the facility's goals and benchmarks for integrated care delivery are met; must have a working knowledge of national programs such as SAIL (Strategic Analytics for Improvement and Learning) and HEDIS (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set); develop and administer performance plans and appraisals for subordinates as required by VA regulations. The incumbent is also responsible for assuring services provided by the CBOC meet the standards set by accrediting agencies which govern the quality of care for the Medical Center, to include, but not limited to the Joint Commission, the Office of Inspector General (OIG), and VA System-Wide Ongoing Assessment and Review Strategy (SOARS). United States Citizenship:
Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Experience:
Supervisory experience within a Primary Care setting. Reference:
